Bausch & Lomb PureVision and PureVision2 Contact Lense

Bausch & Lomb are a respected name in the eye health industry and the brand makes use of the latest technological innovations to ensure they create products that are of optimal quality.

Their PureVision and PureVison2 contact lenses have become top sellers the world over, and are the preferred choice of a huge number of contact lens wearers.

Since their launch in 1999, Bausch & Lomb’s PureVision contact lenses have made a huge impact on the industry, but in the US the product was originally only approved for 7 day wear, rather than 30 day continuous wear. After stringent tests conducted by the FDA, it appeared that Bausch & Lomb had once again managed to challenge perceptions and to create contact lenses that were safe to wear for 30 days continuously. Previously, safety concerns surrounding the use of 30 day lenses had been a major concern, but with Bausch & Lombs PureVision lenses, these worries were alleviated completely.

PureVision Contact Lenses

PureVision contact lenses are the first of Bausch & Lomb’s lenses to be manufactured using their unique AerGel material. AerGel is made from balafilcon, which is a silicone hydrogel material comprising of 36% water. The high H2O content allows for the natural levels of oxygen to reach the eye without any impediment, and the surface of the lens then stays naturally lubricated with the wearer’s tears. The lenses are worn on the cornea of the eye and can be used to correct vision comfortably and efficiently.

Pure Vision lenses can be used in the case of people suffering from hyperopes, myopes, presbyopes and astigmats, all of which are common eye issues that would require correction using glasses or contacts.

Thanks to the unique AerGel technology, PureVision contact lenses are long lasting, only need to be discarded after 30 days, and are incredibly comfortable. They’ll fit in with the wearer’s lifestyle easily, and as they resist protein build up and allow the eye to breathe they do not become irritated or dry.

PureVision2 Contact Lenses

In 201 Bausch & Lomb launched PureVision 2 with High Definition optics. The updated lens is constructed from the same breathable material as the original PureVision contact, but the new design has been optimised to reduce spherical aberration. By reducing aberration the wearer will enjoy even clearer vision, and halos and glare caused by computer, tablets and smartphones will be reduced dramatically. These contact lenses have been designed with those who spend long hours in front of a computer in mind, something that has become a reality in todays fast-paced, technologically driven world.

The Pure Vision 2 lenses are stored in blister packs that contain poloxamine, which helps improve the comfort of application and adds to ease of use. These lenses are also more flexible than their predecessor, and can be even more comfortable as they are slightly thinner too.

Both the original Pure Vision and Pure Vision 2 contact lenses can be worn for 30 days whilst awake, or 30 days continuously. At EyeQ our professional optometrists can assist with all your questions regarding what would work for your eyes, and determine what type of long wear Pure Vision contact lenses would best suit you.
